Goodbye and have a great summer!

Hello Division 17,

The end of the school year is near.  On Monday, your child will be bringing home all his/her school work.  Please send a couple of re-usable shopping bags to school that day.  Cloth bags are better than plastic bags because plastic bags rip.

Also, this is my last year at Anderson.  If you didn’t already know, I will be leaving Anderson this year and moving to the Okanagan with my family.  I have thoroughly enjoyed all my many years at Anderson. I am leaving with many fantastic memories.  It is has been a pleasure teaching your child this year.  I wish you many happy years ahead at Anderson.

All the best,

Mme Rode

Field Trip Tomorrow

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow we will be going on our field trip.  We will be leaving the school at 11 am. Please make sure your child has the following items:

  • an easy to eat lunch
  • a water bottle
  • a hat
  • sunscreen
  • play clothing- and weather appropriate clothing

We will also be having a picnic at the park. It is not necessary, but if you would like to send a snack to share that would be great. Please make sure that it is nut-free.

Thank you,

Mme Rode

This week at Anderson!

Hello division 17,

Tomorrow is our final library book exchange. Please return all library books tomorrow. If your child returns his/her book he /she will be able to take one book home tomorrow.

Please note that this Wednesday is pizza day. Mark your calendars….and that day you don’t need to make a lunch for your child.

Due to a schedule change on friday the spelling test will be tomorrow…rhyme time 2.

Happy Sunday!

Parent/grand-parent appreciation

Hello Division 17,

This Friday before school will be the parent/grandparent appreciation coffee/tea and goodies.  If you have helped out at the school or with the class please drop by the library and enjoy some treats when you come to school on Friday. We, the staff at Anderson, really appreciate all the efforts that parents/grandparents contribute to make our school great.  So a BIG thank you to you all!

See you,

Mme Rode

May newsletter

May Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Here is what we will be studying in the month of May.

Dictée

ien, tion, c dur c=k, c doux c=s

We are also focusing on the verbs VOULOIR and POUVOIR in the present tense.

As our focus continues to be enhancing our French vocabulary, we are continuing to learn French expressions. Some of them will turn up in the dictée sentences or the m.o.

French Language Arts

We are continuing to read our French novel Lili entre en scène. In this novel, the students are learning more challenging French vocabulary, learning literary elements of a story and developing our inferring skills.

For French writing, the students are continuing to work on their creative writing fictional stories.

English Language Arts

The students are working on the final chapters of Flat Stanley. Thank you to everyone who sent the Flat People back to school! It is so exciting getting mail to the classroom! If you haven’t already done this activity yet, you still have time. The flat people aren’t due back till Friday May 13!

The students are also starting on a poetry unit. If you have a chance, share a poem that you remember reading and enjoying when you were a child. Check out Shel Silverstein poems, he has written some very silly and funny poems.

Math

The students have started on a Geometry unit. In this unit, students are expected to know and identify 2 D shapes and 3 D solids. It is always good to ask your child to identify any 2D shapes and 3D solids in there everyday world.

Science

This month, students are continuing to learn about matter and energy. They are currently investigating buoyancy! This can be lots of fun (and also very messy!)
